ENPI in Azerbaidjan

In Azerbaijan the Internews Europe Consortium and its partners produce and disseminate a range of media vehicles designed to complement national assistance programmes, address challenges with a regional dimension and promote cooperation among partners on issues of mutual interest.

TV BROADCASTS

During 16 months in 2009 and 2010 Internews Azerbaijan will produce 28 twenty-six minutes long special televised journals, ’Europe and We’. Azerbaijan’s Public Television broadcasts them twice every month since March, on Fridays in prime-time to some 8 million viewers throughout the country. Issues covered in the broadcasts range from the protection of the environment, to the fight against human trafficking and the rights of women.

A number of regional television stations re-broadcast ’Europe and We’ twice every month on prime time, enhancing dissemination. In the region of Ganja, the broadcasts reach 1 million viewers of Kapaz TV and Alternative TV; in the region of Lankaran the broadcast reach 700,000 viewers of LTV; in the region of Khachmaz some 600,000 viewers of RegTV can watch them; in the region of Mingachevir MTV broadcasts reach 500,000 viewers; in the region of Yevlakh 1 mln viewers can follow the broadcasts on El TV; in the region of Quba the broadcasts reach some 400,000 viewers of Gutb TV; in the region of Zaqatala 300,000 viewers can watch them on Aygun TV and in the region of Sumqayit one mln viewers can follow them on Dunya TV.

RADIO BROADCASTS

Starting from March 2009, for 16 months, Antenn Radio 101.1 FM produces and broadcasts 28 radio journals - Europe Today. The journals are on the air on Thursdays twice every month at 7:30 pm and are repeated the next day at 8 am. Radio Antenn broadcasts reach an audience of 7 million people.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLES

Starting from March 2009, for 16 months, one of Azerbaijan’s most reputed publications, the daily newspaper Zerkalo publishes a bi-monthly supplement covering all issues related to European integration. The circulation of the supplement is estimated at 10,000, but dissemination is amplified by the newspaper’s website.

ONLINE

Internews Azerbaijan, in cooperation with the website Media Forum also produces and disseminates for the duration of the project dozens of news stories through its sections dedicated to news, politics, region, law, society and analysis. Website materials on the ENPI programme cover issues related to initiatives implemented by European Union institutions and countries in the region, as well as Azerbaijan integration with the European Union, security and energy problems and the East Partnership Programme. Round tables and online discussions are organised through online forums, with the participation of local and European experts.
